For so many kids in California, chronic absenteeism isn’t a result of not wanting to go to school – it’s simply that they can’t get there.

The California Department of Education defines chronic absenteeism as missing 10% or more of instructional school days. In the 2022-23 school year, the California student population averaged 7%* chronic absenteeism. At Good Karma Bikes, we will never turn away a kid in need of a bike. In fact, we have recently partnered with our friends at City Year ( and have pledged to provide bikes to children at Casssell Elementary School in East San Jose who is currently reporting 55% of their students as chronically absent.

We need your help. Please remember that every gift makes an impact, regardless of the amount and is deeply appreciated.
