For so many kids in California, chronic absenteeism isn’t a result of not wanting to go to school – it’s simply that they can’t get there.
The California Department of Education defines chronic absenteeism as missing 10% or more of instructional school days. In the 2022-23 school year, the California student population averaged 7%* chronic absenteeism. At Good Karma Bikes, we will never turn away a kid in need of a bike. In fact, we have recently partnered with our friends at City Year (Cityyear.org) and have pledged to provide bikes to children at Costaño School of the Arts in East Palo Alto who is currently reporting 55% of their students as chronically absent.
We need your help. Please remember that every gift makes an impact, regardless of the amount and is deeply appreciated.
