Who We Are
Good Karma Bikes is Silicon Valley's Best Bike Shop — eleven years running, as voted by our community. We're a nonprofit second-hand bike shop open to the public, and we pride ourselves on exceptional service at prices that are hard to beat.

Each year, thousands of donated bikes come through our doors. Our dedicated team of volunteers repairs every single one — and from there, half are sold in our shop to fund our mission, while the other half are given to people in need through our programs and community partnerships.

We serve youth, low-income families, people experiencing homelessness, those in recovery, returning citizens, and refugees. And in all our years, we have never turned anyone away for financial reasons.
What We Do
At Good Karma Bikes, we go beyond the shop. We provide safe and reliable bike transportation, repair services, and hands-on training through our Park Tool School program.

Our free affinity programs offer a welcoming space to learn basic bike repair at your own pace — built around inclusion, access, and community. Many participants go on to join our broader volunteer family.

We also bring our work into the community through mobile repair clinics at city-scale events, offering free services to those in need through trusted partnerships. Our network spans elected officials, NGOs, corporations, and city-sponsored programs — because getting more people on bikes takes a whole community working together.
Our Impact
We may be a bike shop, but our mission has never really been about bikes — it's about people. Bikes are simply the extraordinary medium through which our volunteers show up every day to make a difference in their community.

We believe in affordable transportation, health, and the joy of riding. And we believe every kid deserves a bike. That's why every single-speed, 20" coaster-brake kids' bike in our shop is completely free.
What People Say
"GKB is the best around--in both bikes and karma--hands down. They've granted countless bikes and free repairs to our unhoused clients, and have done so with the accurate understanding that a set of wheels is literally a lifeline for low-income and unhoused people in our region. They are a wholly unique model, and San Jose is extremely lucky to have them."
